Trees have always been a source of inspiration; How they grow, bend, move, transform and evolve in order to adapt to their ever changing environment. In Eastern cultures, trees are seen as a constant source of energy whilst in the cities of the West they often just become background elements blended into the urban environment. This series catalogues, and somehow is, an attempt to bring awareness to the diversity of species that inhabit the centre of a (large) city, in this case that of Lisbon, and focuses on capturing their foliage in motion, stripping them of their structure to isolate 'patterns'... Plastically, each drawing is made of discontinuous lines, symbols and small marks constituting a dynamic summary of each tree, a language which is a source of inspiration for the larger compositions.
